Shawn has been passionate about directing films for nearly his whole life. He grew up in Nebraska, far away from the film industry but travels back and forth to Atlanta on a regular basis. Her Words will be his first feature film.

The Story Behind Her Words

Her Words is a romantic comedy following the character Steven as he goes through three relationships. Each one will change him drastically, as he gains new perspectives on life. The film will explore themes of loyalty, love, death, and change. From first-time directors Brittain Bauer and Shawn Shackelford, Her Words will be an equally funny and heartbreaking ride through the unpredictability of people and relationships.

Shawn and Brittain have been working on this film project for the better part of a year now. They have known each other since grade school and have been making movies since high school. Her Words, in many ways, has been a lifetime in the making. It's a deeply personal movie, detailing some of the struggles most men have gone through in the dating world.

With Her Words, Shawn and Brittain wish to shed light on relationships. That almost untouchable thing that we almost always see through the lenses of comedy or tragedy. But what if we could go deeper? What if there was a way to ask bigger questions? To see what it really means to connect with another human being. As much as we would like to think of ourselves as islands unto ourselves, the truth is that we are all connected. Our actions will always affect others, both positively and negatively. These are the sort of ideas we will explore with this film.
